London police vehicles with alternative routes

A British magazine published in London that the police ( Scotland Yard ) wants in the next 4 years half of its fleet of vehicles with alternative fuels. Another fact that demonstrates the commitment of European countries to get rid of oil.
The idea is to be formed by electric vehicles and compressed air. But the latter still being evaluated. Now the same with hybrid cars in the 140 Toyota , and some units of a Smart Fortwo electric.
And this took place only because London is one of the cities with the most points of recharge in the city.
