Audi , although not yet entered the world of green cars (only in some cases, but in prototype), it seems not to stay outside this late in ecology, as has been established for few weeks ago solar panels in its factory in Ingolstadt .
These cover exactly 11,600 meters square . Earlier this year, will be completed and connected to the mains. The solar panels will be supplied and put into service by the company Green City Energy , based in Munich .
This will produce more than 1,000 MWh of electricity each year and over the next year is expected to install another 8700 meters square, so that production capacity will increase to 1900 MWh . In addition to the facilities will be expanded from Neckarsulm , which is expected to cover other 33,000 square meters roof with solar modules, with a production capacity that would be about 2 MWp (Megawatt peak).
As I said, this is a big step for the German firm, although not used in their vehicles, as the same may be molded to this technology, much needed further development at present.
It’s a shame that a company with so much history, tradition and excellent level of sales throughout the world, not yet market a hybrid version, electric, hydrogen, or whatever. Brands with less trajectory and are thinking of the future, but Audi seems that yet.
