Shell Eco-Marathon 2010, proof of alternative energy

Shell shows again and again number 26 in the Eco-Marathon , a test in which teams of students from all Europe are faced with their prototypes in a circuit search of lower average fuel consumption.

There are two distinct categories, that the Urban Concept and Prototype . This year many 153 prototypes and 68 Urban Concept. The fuels that are in competition are: gasoline, diesel, LPG, hydrogen, biofuels (biodiesel, bioethanol) and solar energy. All the competition is focused on the coefficients of friction and aerodynamics.

The designs and styles we see in the pictures do not reflect the future of the car immediately, but can be key to the brands, as these ideas may emerge very interesting production models.

These prototypes have small motorcycle engines or garden equipment, which are modified and optimized transmission coupled with large developments. The maximum speed of the majority, is 15 km / h.

In this year, the Shell Eco-Marathon Spanish has many participating ( 18 ). Here are the details of each:

• Asturias : Team High Nalón: IES High Nalón in the form of Urban Concept (gasoline).

• Castellón : Equipment wave-GT: I.E.S. Serra d’Espada in prototype mode (gasoline).
• Guipúzcoa : Equipment Txindoki: Salesians Urnieta in prototype mode (gasoline). Team Anboto: IEFPS Miguel Altuna in the form of Urban Concept (hydrogen fuel cell).
• Jaén : Equipment Jandula IES: IES Jandula in prototype mode (gasoline).
• Murcia : Equipo UMU Ecomarathon Team: University of Murcia in prototype mode (ethanol).
• Valencia : Team Eco-Marxadella: IES The Marxadella in prototype mode (gasoline). Eco-Marathon Team UPV Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in prototype mode (diesel). IDF Eco-Marathon Team: Institute of Design and Manufacture in prototype mode (ethanol). IDEA Team Team CEU: CEU Institute of Disciplines and Environmental Studies (IDEA) in the form of prototype (hydrogen).
• Vizcaya : Equipment Tknika: I.E.F.P. Don Bosco, Elgoibar BHI, Salesians in prototype mode (gasoline).
