Coparation between Ford and Sierra

The rivalry between Ford and Chevrolet comes time ago, and the market for light trucks, is perhaps even more intense. So when I had the opportunity to test a GMC Sierra (equivalent to the Chevy Silverado) and a Ford F-150 in the same week, I took to prepare this report comparing the two vans.

The engine has the designation FFV (Flexible Fuel Vehicle) because it accepts fuel mixture E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline). Here, too, the engine is coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Thanks to these super-powerful machines, like boxers that receive large loads during his sporting life, these vans resist loads up to 7000 pounds for the GMC and Ford in 7200 pounds.

Flexible Load

These vans are made to bear the burden and if it comes, the Ford is on the front with a box 78.8 inches long and 65.5 cubic feet of volume. The Ford came equipped with an optional load (new for 2008) that includes cross bars ($ 190) that are mounted on slides and slide along the box. Ford includes an optional sliding rear window that allows the entry of fresh air and access to the box. The GMC offered as an option. The rear seat bench of both type vans is divided 60/40 and reclining is to use the floor as the cargo area.

Results from combat

The Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado (equivalent to the GMC Sierra) share the podium in sales, occupying the first and second place respectively. El KIA pro_cee´d es la versión de tres puertas del cee´d. Puede comprarse desde 13.281 hasta 19.356 euros, con dos motores de gasolina y tres Diesel.

Es entre 650 y 800 euros más costoso que la variante con carrocería de cinco puertas. Como el cee´d, el pro_cee´d es uno de los modelos más recomendables de los de características similares que se venden en España.

Tiene muchas virtudes que lo hacen muy recomendable. Destaca por tener una relación entre precio y equipamiento mejor que la media. Su espacio interior y su calidad de acabado también son mejores de lo normal.

En cualidades dinámicas y en estabilidad se encuentra a la altura de los mejores, como un Ford Focus, un Volkswagen Golf y, en menor medida, un SEAT León.

Además tiene una garantía mecánica de hasta siete años ó 150.000 km (los tres primeros años sin límite de km).

El pro_cee´d mide 4,25 m de largo, 1 cm más que la versión de cinco puertas. Sus dimensiones exteriores son parecidas a las de un Opel Astra (4,25 m) y un Peugeot 308 (4,28 m). El maletero mide 340 l; es un tamaño normal para un coche de estas dimensiones.

Está disponible con dos motores de gasolina y tres Diesel. Los de gasolina son un 1,6 l de 122 CV y un 2,0 l de 143 CV. Los motores Diesel son 1,6 l CRDi en dos variantes de potencia (90 y 115 CV) y un 2,0 l CRDi de 140 CV.

Todos los motores van unidos a un cambio manual de cinco velocidades, salvo el Diesel de 140 CV que va asociado a uno de seis velocidades.

Con todos los motores destaca por tener unas prestaciones normales (con una velocidad máxima algo baja para su potencia) y un consumo contenido en las versiones de gasolina y bajo en las Diesel.

La versión Diesel de 115 CV, que es la que hemos probado, da un resultado muy bueno por suavidad, silencio, prestaciones y consumo.
